The honor is the fourth for the Mustangs, the most of any men’s team on the swimming side, with Bartosz Krzyzaniak also winning the award Nov. 21. On the diving side, Bryce Klein was honored Oct. 31.
Krzyzaniak (100 back) and Gomez (200 fly) have each posted NCAA B standards for the Mustangs this season, while classmate Klein has NCAA Zone scores on both 1 and 3 meter.
The Aggies are currently the No. 9-ranked team in the CSCAA/TYR Top 25 Poll with a 6-1 overall record and 2-1 mark in SEC competition. Texas A&M is coming off wins over Missouri and LSU, a pair of teams the Mustangs hosted this season. The Aggies placed seventh at the 2017 SEC Championships and 16th at the NCAA Championships last March.
This is the Mustangs’ final dual meet of the 2017-18 season before hosting the 2018 American Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championships Feb. 14-17. SMU will also host a pre-conference time trial event Feb. 3.
Championship season continues with NCAA Zone Diving Championships (March 5-7) and continues with the Division I NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships (March 21-24), both held in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
