In-state Standout Ashleigh Allen Commits to Wayne State Warriors

Ashleigh Allen, a senior from Clarkston High School in Clarkston, Michigan, has given her verbal commitment to Wayne State University’s women’s swimming and diving team for the 2018-19 season.

“I am excited to announce my commitment to study and swim for Wayne State University next fall.  The team is very close and welcomed me openly, and the coaching staff is amazing!  I know I will have great success both in and out of the pool.  Go Warriors!!!”

Allen swims for Clarkston High School under coach Amber Miller. She captained the Wolves to a 25th-place team finish at the 2017 MHSAA Division I Girls Championship this past November. Individually she finished 25th in the 200 IM (2:12.21) and 23rd in the 500 free (5:16.21), up from 31st and 26th a year ago. She also contributed to Clarkston’s 12th-place 400 free relay (55.15 leadoff) and 15th-place 200 free relay (24.78 anchor). Allen has been the recipient of several All-County and All League Awards during her tenure on the Clarkston team.

Allen also swims year-round for Kingfish Aquatic Club of Waterford under coach Brad Brockway. In club, her top events are the mile and the 400 IM. She had a number of best times this summer in long course season, and has continued to improve in most of her events this fall. She will bring depth to the Warriors’ distance bench next fall. Already her best times would have scored at the 2017 GLIAC Championships in the 1650 free (7th), 1000 free (10th), 500 free (B final), 200 IM (B final), and 400 IM (B final).
