Marcella Ruppert-Gomez Announces Verbal Commitment to Harvard

Miami, Florida’s Marcella Ruppert-Gomez has made a verbal commitment to the application process at Harvard University.*

Getting to know Coach Stephanie and Coach Amanda as well as the team made me realize how much I would thrive at Harvard. Ruppert-Gomez is a senior at Gulliver Preparatory School in Pinecrest, Florida; she swims year-round for Gulliver Swim Club. At the FHSAA Class 2A Championship last fall, she was runner-up in the 500 free (4:53.69) and took third in the 200 IM (2:06.16). Swimming for her club team, she won the 500 free (4:54.82) and 1650 free (16:57.40) at the Florida Gold Coast Senior Championships in March, and finaled in the 400 IM (2nd), 200 back (6th), 200 fly (6th), 200 free (7th), and 200 IM (7th).

While all her best SCY times date from 2014, she did update several of her LCM events this summer: 200 free (2:06.26), 800 free (8:47.72), 1500 free (16:47.38), and 400 IM (4:57.66).

Top SCY times:

  • 1650 free – 16:43.96
  • 1000 free – 10:08.45
  • 500 free – 4:52.54
  • 400 IM – 4:19.56
