2017 US Junior Nationals: LeVant and Sancov Swap Scratches for Day 3 Finals

2017 Speedo Junior National Championships

Although a number of swimmers made finals in both of today’s events, the 400 free and 100 fly, only a couple scratched to focus on one of them. The top 24 girls in both events will be in their assigned lanes tonight, but there has been some shifting among the boys. Terrapins Swim Team’s Alexei Sancov dropped the A final of the 400 free, where he was eighth out of heats with 3:58.88 (PBx1.2). That changes the game for three boys. Skyler Cook-Weeks of Michigan Lakeshore Aquatics, 9th this morning with 3:59.02 (PBx2.35) will move into tonight’s A final; Swim Florida’s Santi Corredor, 17th with 3:59.91 (PBx3.3) will contest the B final; and Christopher Lindley of North Texas Nadadores, 26th with 4:02.11 (PBx1.34) will get a second swim with the C final.

Moving in the other direction, North Texas Nadadores’ Jack LeVant gave up his spot in the C final of the 100 fly to concentrate on the 400 free, where he posted the morning’s top time (3:53.40) after dropping 5.5 seconds. LeVant was the 18th swimmer of the morning in the butterfly. His absence in the C final will allow Alvin Jiang of Lakeside Aquatic Club, 25th with 55.76, to take his empty lane.
