Freya Anderson

At just 16 years of age,  Anderson won the British Swimming Championships 100m freestyle, with a time of 54.35. Her swim in the heats, 54.40, eclipsed British Swimming’s 10 year old age group record, and she proceeded to lower it again in the finals.

2016 European Junior Championships

Anderson won the Gold in the 100m Free finishing 0.25 seconds ahead of the field with a time of 54.72.

2017 World Championships/Junior World Championships

At the 2017 world champs in Budapest, he teenager finished 12th in the semi-finals of the 100 free with a blazing 53.91, but failed to make the Championship Final. Later that summer at the Junior world champs in Indianapolis, Freya lowered her best time again, this time swimming to a 53.88 for gold in the 100 free.

2018 Commonwealth Games

Representing England, Anderson was instrumental in helping her team secure bronze in both the 4×100 and 4×200 free relay.

2018 European Championships

At her first senior euros, Freya scored 4 medals on relays, 2 gold (4×200 and mixed 4×100 medley) and 2 bronze (mixed 4×200 and 4×100 medley). She anchored all 4 relays, throwing down 100 splits of 52.69 and 52.83 while her 200 splits were 1:56.00 and 1:55.80. She also finished 4th in the 100 free with a new European Junior record time of 53.61.

2019 World Championships

On Day 4, Anderson helped Britain’s 4×100 mixed medley relay to a bronze medal, splitting 52.28 on the freestyle leg.

2023 World Aquatics Championships (Fukuoka, Japan)

While Anderson mostly took on relay duties, She did shine in her sole individual event: the 200 free. Anderson dropped the 100 free for the sake of relays. She cruised through prelims with a 1:57.12 before crushing a 1:55.85 in semis to qualify for the final 6th. It was a best time by .04. In the final, Anderson was 7th in 1:56.33. 

On the relays, Anderson anchored the 400 free relay in 52.51, nearly earning them a medal with a 4th place finish. In the 800 free relay, Anderson again anchored Britain to a 4th with a 1:56.30. Anderson netted a bronze when she anchored the mixed 400 free relay in 53.09. The squad of Matt Richards (47.83), Duncan Scott (47.46), Anna Hopkin (53.30), and Anderson set a new European record.
