Islanders Aquatics (based out of West Islip, NY in The Metropolitan LSC) & Team Owner, Marc Danin, are thrilled to officially announce the hiring of current Victor Swim Club (Rochester, NY Niagara LSC) Program Director, Mike Murray, beginning September 1st, 2017.
Coach Murray comes to Islanders after leading Victor Swim Club to three consecutive Niagara LSC Team Championships, as well as a 3rd place finish at the 2016 Futures East Championships and several top 10 Speedo Sectional Team finishes.
Over Murray’s 4 year tenure at Victor (2013-Present), the club increased its VCC scores by over 110,000 points, as well as earning three straight USA Swimming Club Excellence Bronze Medal Awards. During that time, Victor athletes consistently placed in numerous junior national & national championship competition, as well as leading athletes to earn over 15 USA Swimming National Age Group top 10 performances, over 10 USA Swimming Scholastic All-Americans; and guiding one athlete to a top 25 performance at last summer’s US Olympic Trials.
Coach Mike has been named to USA Swimming National Select Camp Staff, Zone Select Camp Staff and presented his work on test set development and implementation on the USA Swimming Online Coach Clinic series.
Islander Aquatics will look to Murray to help Co Head Coach, Marc Danin, lead the team toward continued success and seek to further develop age group progression into senior level swimming and beyond.
After years of watching Mike Murray at Marist Swim Club in the early 2000’s, Mercury Swimming and most recently, leading Victor Swim Club to a Bronze Medal club; I’m so excited to bring him back to the Metropolitan LSC and introduce him to our Islanders Aquatics family. I’m personally very excited to work alongside him as Co-Head Coach.

Mike coached my “introduction to competitive swimming” class for seniors at the Perinton Recreation Center. You have no idea how lucky you are! He is fabulous!! Congratulations!
