North Kansas City teacher and swim coach James R. Green has been accused of engaging in sexual acts with a then-16-year-old boy a dozen years ago.

Green, a teacher and a swim coach at Northgate Middle School in the North Kansas City School District, was arrested and charged last week with six counts of second-degree statutory sodomy. Green is accused of sexually assaulting a Smithville High School student in 2005 and carrying on a sexual relationship with him.  At that time Green was a teacher at Blue Springs South High School as well as a swim coach.

Green was a coach for several schools in the Kansas City area. He coached at several high schools including Oak Park, Blue Springs South and Pius X. He was also the coach for the middle school program in the North Kansas City school district, and spent a summer coaching for summer league team New Mark. Green was a member of the USA Swimming-affiliated New Mark Swim Team from 2000-2002, and again in 2011.

According to the Kansas City Star,  court documents show that Green confessed to Blue Springs police that he “has had sexual relationships with two boys under the age of 18 and that he has secretly filmed boys in the locker room at various schools where he has worked.”

The FBI has set up a hotline for anybody who has more info about the case or any other possible victims. That number is 816-805-5138.
