Nick Adcock has broke the American Record in the 50 yard fly for S10s. At the CSH/Tri-State Regional on March 4th, Adcock split a 27.21 en route to a 1:01.29 finishing time. That improved upon the time pf 27.44 done in January of this year by Tyler Dutcher as part of a 12-record run by the U.S. Paralympic resident team.
Adcock is a 24-year old swimmer representing Lower Moreland Swimming & Diving. He swam collegiately at Penn State Altoona, where he finished his career in the spring of 2015.
At the meet, specifically designated for para-swimmers, Adcock just missed the record in his flat-start 50, where he touched in 27.55. Later in the day, though, he got it en route to an overall 100 yard time of 1:01.29. The record in the S10 100 yard fly is a 51.34 done by Ian Silverman in 2013.
Adcock also swam 55.15 in the 100 free and 1:03.25 in the 100 back in Saturday’s meet.

Question – in Para swimming, you have to specifically apply to have a split count as a record. So, not necessarily. It’s also not always a given in para swimming that the first 50 is faster than the second 50.
