The Ball State women’s swimming team finished up the first half of its season Saturday night at the Miami Invitational. The Cardinals finished the three day competition in seventh place with a final score of 286.5.

Freshman Anne Vormohr finished sixth in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:02.60, earning six points.

Senior Jessica Extine touched the wall at 52.25 which placed her in her in 16th in the 100 freestyle.

Freshman Sophie Bader tied for fifth in the 200 butterfly with a final time of 2:04.98. Senior Katie Horn and sophomore Taylor Miles and sophomore Maryn Meldrum also placed in the 200 butterfly. Horn touched the wall at 2:05.65, placing her in eighth. Miles placed 15th with a final time of 2:09.40. Meldrum’s final time of 2:14.33 placed her in eighteenth.

The Cardinals placed two in the 400 freestyle. Freshman Peighton Gilbert, freshman Anne Vormohr, sophomore Liz Madison and senior Jessica Extine had a final time in the event of 3:30.82, placing them in eighth. Freshman Sophie Bader, junior Amanda Kedzierski, sophomore Lauren Elston and senior Courtney Mudd placed 10th in the event with a final time of 3:34.30.

The Ball State women’s swimming and diving team will return to action Friday, January 6, when they travel to Indianapolis, Ind. to take on IUPUI and Xavier.
