Continuing his impressive run at these 2016 Brazilian Championships, Brazilian Olympian Brandonn Almeida won his 4th gold of the meet with a new South American Record in the 400 free. Almeida’s winning time of 3:49.46 was yet another best time for the future South Carolina Gamecock. That put him over a second ahead of silver medalist Luiz Altamir, who clocked a 3:50.64 for 2nd place.
Fellow Brazilian Olympians Leonardo De Deus and Marcelo Chierghini each picked up a gold. Chierighini, who trains with the postgrad group at Auburn University, won the 50 free with a quick 22.41. De Deus, on the other hand, took gold in his signature 200 fly with a winning time of 1:56.21.
On the women’s side, sprint standout Etiene Medeiros hauled in her 3rd gold of the meet. Medeiros, who won the 50 fly and 50 back earlier in the meet, was the only swimmer to crack the 25-second barrier in the final. Her 24.98 was good for victory ahead of Lorrane Ferreira (25.28).

What a meet this guy is having! Huge boost for South Carolina
Absolute monster catch from USC. This guy is going to be the next South American star.
He’s going to South Carolina not Southern California.
You can abbreviate both as USC.
@Markster: he’s not wrong…
Similar to how UND can be Notre Dame or North Dakota.
