Texas Sweeps All Big 12 Swimming And Diving Weekly Awards

Texas’ Joseph Schooling, Remedy Rule, Mark Anderson and Meghan O’Brien have earned the Big 12 Swimming & Diving weekly awards after victories over multiple top 10 opponents. Divers Anderson and O’Brien receive recognition for the second-straight week while swimmers Rule and Schooling claim their second and third awards, respectively.

BIG 12 MEN’S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
Joseph Schooling, Texas, Jr., Singapore

  • The Rio Olympics gold medalist posted the nation’s fourth fastest time in his first meet of the season, clocking in at 46.93 in the 100-meter butterfly.
  • Added the nation’s No. 9 mark in the 200-meter butterfly en route to earning a first place finish in the event.
  • Took home two first place finishes and one second place time in the 200-meter relay against No. 3-ranked North Carolina State.

BIG 12 WOMEN’S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
Remedy Rule, Texas, So., Crozet, Va.

  • Competed against four top 10 teams and earned at least one victory against each program.
  • Posted the nation’s No. 3 mark in the 200 butterfly (1:55.52) and defeated one of the nation’s top butterflyers, Stanford’s Ella Eastin at her home pool.
  • Notched the nation’s ninth best time in the 100 butterfly with a second-place time of 53.14 at Stanford behind California Olympian Noemie Thomas who won with the national time.

BIG 12 MEN’S DIVER OF THE WEEK
Mark Anderson, Texas, Sr., Lake Forest, Calif.

  • Swept the two diving events against No. 3 N.C. State.
  • Earned a score of 389.10 on the one-meter board and 439.35 on the three-meter.
  • The All-America diver scored 78.52 points above the top-finishing N.C. State diver in the 3-meter and 77.78 points higher in the 1-meter event.

BIG 12 WOMEN’S DIVER OF THE WEEK
Meghan O’Brien, Texas, So., Concord, Mass.

  • Won five of the eight springboard events over the last two weeks, all against top 10 teams.
  • Earned victories in three of the one-meter events with dual-meet victories over No. 1 Stanford, No. 4 N.C. State and No. 10 Texas A&M.
  • Tallied another win on the three-meter at No. 9 California, a victory that proved instrumental in UT’s narrow four-point win over the Golden Bears.
