Michigan’s Siobhan Haughey, Nebraska’s Anna Filipcic and Wisconsin’s Beata Nelson claim weekly awards

Swimmer of the Week
Siobhan Haughey, Michigan

So. – Hong Kong – St. Paul’s Secondary School

  • Collected four first-place finishes against No. 6 Virginia, including a pool record in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:12.47)
  • Won the 200-yard individual medley (1:58.98), the 100-yard freestyle (49.28), the 200-yard breaststroke (2:12.47) and the 200-yard freestyle (1:45.35), all of which were NCAA provisional qualifying times
  • Contributed to a first-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:17.68) and a pair of second-place marks in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:30.92) and the 400-yard medley relay (3:39.16)
  • Earns her first career Big Ten Swimmer of the Week award

Diver of the Week

Anna Filipcic, Nebraska

Sr. – Omaha, Neb. – Omaha Burke High School

  • Swept the diving events with a score of 330.52 on the one-meter and 372.30 in the three-meter event in Nebraska’s dual meet against Kansas
  • Set a Devaney Natatorium record with a six-dive total of 330.52 on the one-meter platform
  • The two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree recorded NCAA Zone qualifying scores in both events
  • Earns her eighth career Diver of the Week honor
  • Last Nebraska Diver of the Week: Anna Filipcic (Nov. 2, 2016)

Freshman of the Week
Beata Nelson, Wisconsin

Madison, Wis. – Verona Area

  • Earned six top-five finishes in Wisconsin’s dual meet at Georgia
  • Collected a second-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke (1:57.62) and a fourth-place result in the 100-yard backstroke (54.86)
  • Recorded NCAA provisional qualifying times in the 100- and 200-yard backstroke events
  • Contributed to second-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay (1:41.02) and a trio of third-place marks in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:35.01), the 400-yard medley relay (3:42.72) and the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:24.58)
  • Earns her second Freshman of the Week award
