WOMEN

MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State women’s swimming and diving team defeated Tiffin University, 200-61, Saturday afternoon at the Lewellen Aquatics Center.

The Cardinals had dominating performances today including 14 season bests on the swimming side and five season bests on the diving side.

Junior Amanda Kedzierski had her lifetime best in the 200 freestyle at 1:56.48. She was also part of the first place finish in the 400 medley relay and the 400 freestyle relay.

Freshman Anne Vormohr only finished in first place in all her events today. Vormohr was part of the first place finishes in the 400 medley relay and the 400 freestyle relay. She also finished first in the 50 freestyle (24.69) and the 100 freestyle (53.92).

Freshman Rachel Smallwood had another impressive day on the board scoring 271.35 in the 1-meter dive, qualifying her for the NCAA Zones once again.

Also on the board, freshman Rachel Bertram had a career best on the 3-meter dive with a score of 266.03.

Freshman Cassidy Blackwin had a first place finish in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:47.86. Blackwin also had a first place finish in the 500 freestyle at 5:16.09.

Other top finishers on the day were Audrey Mayer in the 100 backstroke at 1:01.65, Mason Dahman in the 100 breaststroke at 1:09.74, Andrea Richter in the 200 backstroke at 2:12.74, Liz Madison in the 200 Breaststroke at 2:31.32 and Kimberly Scott in the 400 IM at 4:38.39.

“Today’s meet was a good challenge for us to swim some events we haven’t swam yet this season,” head coach Kristy Patterson said. “We are seeing progress in so many areas, but still have a lot of work to go. We are a work-in-progress, but overall the season has been going really well.”

MEN

MUNCIE, Ind. – The men’s swimming and diving team was victorious over Tiffin University Saturday afternoon. The final score was 162.5 to 74.5.

Junior Isaac Walling finished first in the 500 freestyle at 4:56.57 and second in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:12.53.

Freshman Chase Jackson placed first in the 100 backstroke at 53.46, second in the 200 backstroke at 1:59.29, and part of first finish in the 200 yard medley along with Luke Nondorf, Tanner Barton and Austin Green.

Senior Tanner Barton won all the events he competed in today. Barton had a time of 1:58.61 in the 200 butterfly and a time of 52.58 in the 100 butterfly. He also competed in the 400 freestyle relay and 200 medley relay, both first place finishes.

Senior Austin Green also only saw his name in first place this afternoon. Green finished first in the 50 freestyle (21.99) and in the 100 freestyle (48.18). He was also part of  the first place finishes in the 400 freestyle relay and 200 medley relay.

Other top finishers on the day were Ben Andrew in the 400 IM at 4:26.56, Lane Sawyerin 1-meter diving and 3-meter diving, Luke Nondorf in the 200 breaststroke at 2:15.78 and Cullen Tyler in the 100 breaststoke 1:01.55.

“Our seniors, Tanner Barton and Austin Green, continue to lead the team throughout these last three weekends,” said head coach Bob Thomas. “We are hopeful that their success will continue and rub off on the rest of the team.”
