The Crimson Tide women will be adding another new member to their roster next season, as Kentucky-based Lydia Jackson has given her verbal commitment to join Alabama next fall. Jackson’s club training base is with the Lakeside Seahawks Swim Team, and she’s currently a senior at South Oldham High School. Her primary events are the distance freestyles, but she could also play a role in the back or IM races in collegiate dual meets.
Last season, Jackson was a 2-time finalist at the Kentucky State Championships, were she won medals in both of her individual events. Her highest finish came in the 500 free, where she picked up a silver medal with her personal best 4:51.76. She also swam a best time in the 200 free, winning a bronze medal in 1:49.60.
Jackson’s Top Times:
- 200 free- 1:49.60
- 500 free- 4:51.76
- 1650 free- 16:57.23
- 100 back- 56.46
- 200 back- 2:01.51
- 200 IM- 2:05.82
- 400 IM- 4:26.01
At Alabama, Jackson will likely be a key addition for the Crimson tide in the 1650 free. Their only swimmer in that race at last season’s SEC Championships was Paige Matherson. Matherson will still have a year of eligibility remaining when Jackson starts as a freshman, so she and Jackson will likely be training together at Bama.
