The Northwestern men have added a new member to their recruiting class with the verbal commitment of Dynamo Swim Club’s Jeffrey Durmer. Currently residing in Georgia, Durmer will make the move to Northwestern after graduating from Saint Pius X Catholic High School.

Durmer is coming off a very strong 2015-16 season that saw him compete in his first ever Olympic Trials. His success began in the yards portion of the season, during which he became a Georgia High School 1-5A State champion in the 500 free with his personal best 4:32.09. In his 2nd event, the 200 IM, he picked up a bronze medal with a personal best 1:51.14. Durmer then went on to compete at the Speedo Winter Junior Nationals (East), clocking a personal best 3:53.44 for 17th place in the 400 IM.

In the long course pool, Durmer was the 2016 Nashville Sectionals champion in the 800 meter free and 400 meter IM. His personal best 4:25.96 at that meet qualified him to compete at the 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials. The 400 IM was his only event during regular competition at trials, but he also time trialed the 200 IM in Omaha to lower his best time to a 2:06.80.
