The Denver women have added a new member to their recruiting class, as Austin Swim Club’s Avery Stackle will be making the move from Austin, Texas to join the Pioneers next fall. Stackle is primarily a backstroker, but she’s also strong in the fly, IM, and sprint free races.
I am super excited to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Denver! Go Pioneers!! pic.twitter.com/evUJpgdegC

Last season, Stackle swam career-bests with her 56.23 in the 100 yard back and 57.65 in the 100 yard fly at the 2016 American Short Course Championships in Austin. At that meet, she placed in the top 20 of the 100 back (17th), 50 free (18th), and 100 fly (12th).
Stackle also competed at the 2015 Speedo Winter Junior Nationals earlier in the season, where she was a member of Nitro Swimming’s 4×50 yard free relay.
Stackle’s Top Times:
- 100 back- 56.23
- 200 back- 2:03.69
- 100 fly- 57.65
- 200 fly- 2:11.78
- 50 free- 24.31
- 100 free- 52.80
- 200 IM- 2:12.85
At Denver, Stackle should be an immediate factor for the Pioneers at their conference meet, the Summit League Championships. Her times in the 100 back and 200 back are already fast enough to have qualified for the championship final at the 2016 Summit League meet.
Stackle will be joining a powerhouse backstroke group at Denver that includes 2016 Summit League champion Morgan McCormick, who won the 200 back at conference last season. The Pioneers swept the top 4 places in the 100 back at that meet, led by Johanna Roas, who will graduate after this season. Runner-up McCormick and 4th place finisher Lauren Moden will both have eligibility remaining when Stackle joins the team.

Good Da:
What great news. I’m guessing Avery will be living on campus her first couple years, then get her own pad? It is truly exciting news. I’m sure Avery will be a strong member to the team.
