Victor Swim Club’s Jared Ritz Makes Verbal Pledge to Xavier

Victor Swim Club’s Jared Ritz has given his verbal commitment to swim at Xavier University in the fall of 2017.

“I chose Xavier because I really enjoyed the atmosphere on campus, family-like qualities of the team, and I immediately got the feeling it would be my home away from home.”

Ritz is from Victor, in upstate New York, and is a senior at Victor Senior High School where he captains the varsity swim team. Ritz was the runner-up in the 200 free (1:41.80) at the 2014-15 New York Boys Public School Championships, which ranked him third overall in the NYSPHSAA Fed Swimming Championships results. He was 27th in the 100 free with 48.17.

A Winter Juniors qualifier in the 200m free, Ritz had an outstanding end-of-summer showing at back-to-back meets. First, at the Niagara LSC Long Course Championships he was an A-finalist in the 50/200 free, 100/200 back, and 200 IM, and he posted a lifetime best in the 200 IM. The next weekend, at the USA Swimming Futures Championships in College Park, Maryland, he finaled in the 100 and 200 freestyles and closed out his long course season with new times both events.

Ritz’ best times in SCY are:

  • 100 free – 47.55
  • 200 free – 1:41.80
  • 100 back – 54.13
  • 200 back – 1:56.49
  • 200 IM – 1:57.86
