The University of South Carolina Swimming and Diving program hits the pool for the first time in 2016 as they host SEC foe Kentucky on Thursday at noon at the Carolina Natatorium in the Blatt P.E. Center.
South Carolina is in action for the first time since they ended the 2015-16 season in Atlanta for the NCAA Championships, where the men finished 17th overall and the women finished 29th.
Kentucky opens their 2016 season at Auburn Wednesday, before heading to Columbia to face Carolina. The Wildcats and Gamecocks last met Oct. 10, 2014, when the South Carolina men won 207.5-92.5, but the Kentucky women won 177-123. The Gamecock men won 14 of 16 events en route to their 115-point win over the Wildcats.
At the SEC Championship in February, Kentucky’s men finished ninth, while their women’s team finished eighth. South Carolina’s men finished seventh and the women finished eleventh.
