Newport News, Virginia-native Maddie Morello has made a verbal commitment to North Carolina State University for 2017-18.

Morello is a senior at Menchville High School. At the 2016 VHSL 5A State Meet she was runner-up in the 100 back (56.97), finished fourth in the 100 free (51.88), led off Menchville’s medley relay (26.48), and anchored their 200 free relay (24.02). The previous year she was a member of Menchville’s 5A State record-breaking 200 free relay.
In club swimming Morello represents Coast Guard Blue Dolphins. She specializes in the 100 free and 100 back, and has Winter Juniors cuts in both long course and short course. At Richmond Sectionals this summer she placed 12th in the 50m free, 12th in the 100m free, 8th in the 200m free, and 14th in the 100m back. Her top SCY times are:

- 200 free – 1:50.17
- 50 back – 26.48
- 100 back – 55.91
- 200 back – 2:02.10
- 200 IM – 2:05.02
