Margaret Carey from Mobile, Alabama has given her verbal commitment to swim for the Auburn Tigers during the 2017-2018 season. She will join fellow Mobile natives Ashton Ellzey on the women’s team and Russell Noletto on the men’s team. Noletto attended the same high school and swam for the same club team as Carey.
Carey announced her commitment via her Instagram account:
She swims for McGill-Toolen Catholic High School and City of Mobile Swim Association at the club level. She is a butterfly specialist who has recently made big improvements in both IM distances. She has short course and long course junior national cuts in the 200 Fly.
Her best times are:
Event | Time (SCY) | Time (LCM) |
100 Fly | 56.27 | 1:03.80 |
200 Fly | 2:01.48 | 2:19.22 |
200 IM | 2:07.31 | 2:25.60 |
400 IM | 04:28.07 | 5:05.39 |
Carey is the fourth verbal commitment for Auburn’s women team. She joins Abi Wilder, Jewels Harris and Jaden Bellina in the Class of 2021. Both Harris and Bellina are talented butterfliers and IMers who will provide excellent training partners for Carey.
Carey’s 200 Fly time would have ranked 5th and her 400 IM would have ranked 6th on Auburn’s list of top performers for 2015-2016.
