FINAL SWIMMING RIO MEDAL TABLE
The United States passed up their total medal count from London (31) with 33 this week, and ended in a tie for golds with their team from London (16). Overall, their 16 golds was just one shy of the rest of the world’s golds– 17.
The American medley relays were firing on all cylinders, with Kathleen Baker, Lilly King, Dana Vollmer, and Simone Manuel earning the gold for the women and Michael Phelps, Cody Miller, Ryan Murphy, and Nathan Adrian swimming to gold for the men.
Also earning medals were Simone Manuel and Connor Jaeger. Manuel nearly tied for another gold, finishing .02 behind Denmark’s Pernille Blume in the 50 free to earn a silver. Meanwhile, Jaeger popped a new American record in the 1500 free to earn the silver in that– the United States’ first medal in this event since 2004.
Thus far in these Games, the USA Swim team has won 24 of the USA’s total 40 golds.

Any other country, there;d be a 100 comments by armchair athletes screaming “doping doping doping!”
ioc should remove swimming and athletics because the massive doping scandal
When are you on this website? So you would prefer SwimSwam be renamed SwimScram?
16 out of 24, yes?
Yes. 16+17=24, checks out to me.
I am referring to the sentence which says the Olympic swim team has won 24 out of USA’s 40 golds. As far as I can see, swimming only won 16, and US in general has won 24. 16 out of 24 rather than 24 out of 40
Utter domination, awesome!
I mean i guess that’s okay…haha. Amazing work this week Team USA, each and every one of you made us proud!!
