Each day until August 5th, we will bring you these stunning images.

Through day 81 of the Olympic torch relay it remains in the state of São Paulo, visiting four more cities in the lead-up to the Olympics Games. The Games begin on Friday, August 5th when the torch will be lit at the Opening Ceremonies to signal the official start of the Games.

Day 81 saw the torch begin in Praia Grande, a city of over 260,000 that borders the Atlantic Ocean. With it’s waterfront access Praia Grande is known for it’s beaches and resorts. The torch then continued it’s journey, ultimately travelling in the shape of a lower case throughout the day, heading north, east and then south to the three other cities.

The second city it went through was São Vicente, located just over 7 km north of Praia Grande. São Vicente is known for having Brazil’s 500th year monument (Monumento dos 500 anos do Brasil), which is a viewing platform on Porchat Island. It then travlled 8 km east to Santos, partially located on the island of São Vicente. It is home to world’s largest beachfront garden of 5,335m, featured in the Guinness Book of World Records.

The torch finished it’s day heading 10 km south east to Guarujá, which is known to be a getaway for celebrities and millionaires. It’s best known for the famous beaches, and is nicknamed the “Pearl of the Atlantic”.
