Greenwich YWCA Dolphins’ Meghan Lynch exploded for a new lifetime best in the 200 breast this evening at the 2016 Connecticut LC Senior Championships at Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT.
Lynch won the event against girls several years her senior, and posted a 2:36.09 for the 4th fastest time in American 11-12 Age Group history.
U.S. 11-12 Age Group Top 5
- Laura Davis, 2:34.07
- Annie Zhu, 2:34.28
- Carly Geehr, 2:34.95
- Meghan Lynch, 2:36.09
- Kristen Caverly, 2:36.18
Previously, Lynch sat at #6 on the list with a 2:37.52 from about a month ago. She had a narrow victory over 16-year-old Kaki Christensen (2:36.52) of CPAC tonight; Christensen recorded a lifetime best as well, as did 3rd place finisher Sophie Angus (2:37.37).
Lynch split a 1:15.36 at the 100, and came back in 1:20.73. Her best time in the 100 breast is a 1:15.03, and with the looks of how she’s swimming at this meet, she should blow right past that later this weekend.
She currently ranks 40th in the 100 breast on the 11-12 All-Time list, and could move up as high as 10th if she can go under 1:13.5. Lynch is also ranked 3rd in the 400 IM and 4th in the 200 IM.

My daughter swims in the CT LSC and it’s been amazing to watch Meghan. She’ll be around for a while!
I think this came up in a prior post but does Laura Davis or Annie Zhu hold the NAG? Meghan might break it if she doesn’t age up soon.
Swimfan – Zhu technically holds the NAG record because USA Swimming didn’t keep NAG records for 200-meter stroke events in the 11-12 age group when Davis swam her time.
They need to change that because technically Zhu doesn’t have it..
Wow this time is really impressive! but I wonder if this young prodigy will still be around age 18?
