Copeland and Schneider Will Swim-off to Pick 8th Finalist in 50 Free

2016 U.S. OLYMPIC TEAM TRIALS

William Copeland of Rockbridge and Josh Schneider of the New York Athletic Club will have a swim-off to determine the eighth qualifier in the 50 free final tomorrow night.

The time for the swim-off has not yet been determined.

Copeland is a 2007 NCAA All-American for the University of Cal-Berkeley who finished 12th in the 2012 Olympic Trials. He finished fifth in the 100 free at 2010 U.S. Nationals and seventh in the 100 free at 2011 U.S. Nationals.

Schneider is the 2010 NCAA champion in the 50 free, a two-time short course FINA World Championships medalist, and the 2015 Pan Am Games champion in the 50 free.

The top qualifier in the men’s 50 free semifinals tonight was Anthony Ervin (21.55). Joining either Copeland or Schneider will be Ervin, Nathan Adrian, Cullen Jones, Jimmy Feigen, Caeleb Dressel, Dillon Virvaand Michael Chadwick

This and the 100 semis. why? those are 2 of the most high profile events

Because Phelpls/Lochte/Franklin aren’t in it. Nothing against them, it’s just how I imagine the network operates. They obviously are running more commercials then they used to, so that’s why they have to skip a race. so they prioritize the ones that have the biggest known stars so that the masses of non swimmers can see them. It’s just corporate branding.
