Last week, the Hungarian Swimming Association announced that 29 swimmers have so far qualified for Hungary’s Olympic Team for this summer.
Hungarian swimmers have until July 3 to qualify, additional swimmers will be added if additional relay teams qualify.
Both Cseh and Hosszu are two of the most decorated swimmers in history. Cseh has impressed audiences for the past decade with his butterfly talent, but has constantly been overshadowed by Michael Phelps. At the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, Cseh came in 2nd to Phelps in the 200 butterfly and both IMs. Cseh will again battle Phelps at the Olympics (assuming Phelps qualifies) and will be looking for a gold this time around.
Hosszu has been on fire this year, and it doesn’t look like there will be anyone stopping her in the 200 IM, an event in which she has the World Record in. Hosszu did not have the 2012 Olympic Games that she had hoped for, but it doesn’t look like the upcoming games will disappoint. Hosszu has been on fire in the pool, following her impressive wins at almost every competition she can possibly race in.
Hosszu and Cseh lead a strong Hungarian Olympic Team, that with the help of their two leaders, can give the swimming world a run for their money.

Cseh can win the gold in the 200m fly and also has a very good chance for at least a medal in 100m fly. Gyurta is a big question as he skipped the EC as well. I hope he can defend his title. And not to forget Hosszú(she is in a fantastic form), Kapàs, Kenderesi, Szilàgyi, Bernek, the women’s freestyle relay and the men’s medley relay. We have a very strong team now.

The strongest Hungary have assembled in many years.
Strong team, favourite for 2 gold medals (W200IM, 400IM) , contender for at least 2 others (M100Fly, 200Fly) and minor medal contender for 4 other events (W200Bk, M200Bs, W400Fr, W800Fr) + Szilagyi, Kenderesi and various relays in finals, that’s maybe the strongest european team.
I think till the end of June, after Rome, we can see where’s D. Gyurta at the moment, so can be one more gold medal contender and there’s one more medal contender in w100Bk presently too. Some other can reach the final in both gender and Szilagyi will fight for a medal in 200 and Kenderesi won’t be far too. The team will be in the first 3 from Europe.

Can you imagine that somebody else can win the w400IM?
Don’t forget about Daniel Gyurta. Defending olympic champion and previous world record holder in the 200 breast. In fact, if memory recalls, he is the only Gold medalist on that whole team.
That’s only true in the pool. Eva Risztov won the open-water in London. And after Rio there’ll be at least two more.

Cseh has as good a chance as almost anyone in the flys.
not in the 100 to win gold. and the 200, well id be surprised. but maybe im just too used to see him get second ir third.
Yeah, he does have that second banana feel about him. But, I think he’s progressing this quad right where he needs to. As far as I can see from a quick search (I may have missed something obviously), Cseh’s 1:52.9 at Euros is the best 200 fly time put up since the nasty 2009 World Championships, and he would have placed 2nd with that time there too.
I think the 100 fly is anyone’s game. Though we all know what happens if MP sees blood on the last 25.
