Speedo USA announces Missy Franklin Signature Series

Speedo USA, a division of PVH Corp. (NYSE: PVH), today announced the new “Missy Franklin Signature Series” of performance suits for women and girls, designed in collaboration with five-time Olympic medalist and holder of two individual world records Missy Franklin.

Speedo USA - Missy Franklin Signature Series logoInspired by the drive and energy of young female athletes, the Missy Franklin Signature Series will include 18 pieces – one-piece suits and mix-and-match separates – across three vibrant color stories, designed to make women and girls feel comfortable and confident in and out of the water.

“In her first year as a member of Team Speedo USA, Missy Franklin has already been a fantastic ambassador for our brand, particularly as a role model among women and young girls,” said Speedo USA Vice President of Marketing Pierre Martin. “In creating this collection, Speedo USA’s designers helped Missy translate her experience and intuition as an elite swimmer into a line of swimwear that not only performs, but also expresses passion and personality in the pool and on the deck.”

The new line from Speedo USA features durable, chlorine-resistant fabric both on the outside and inside of the suits, allowing them to provide added support and better maintain their shape and color swim after swim. One of Franklin’s favorite mottos, “With strength and dignity…,” is also inscribed as a special inspiration for swimmers on the suits’ grippers around the leg openings and underside of the bottom band of the two-piece tops.

“Even as a child, I always hoped to one day create my own line of swimwear. Seeing this collection with Speedo USA come to life over the last year has been a dream come true,” said Franklin. “Speedo USA has been an incredible partner in helping me to create a line of swimwear I love and, having tested the suits myself in rigorous training sessions, I am completely confident in putting my name behind this line. I can’t wait to see these suits hit the pool decks later this year.”

From the start of this collaborative process last year, Franklin worked hand-in-hand with Speedo USA to create the Missy Franklin Signature Series. In several sessions – both at Speedo USA’s headquarters in Cypress, Calif., and at Franklin’s family home in Denver, Colo. – she and the Speedo USA design team brought to life a storyboard vision, working through every detail, from shapes, cuts, fit, colors and patterns, to develop the final collection.

The Speedo USA Missy Franklin Signature Series ranges in price from $69 for one piece suits to $24 to $34 for two-piece separates. The collection will be available in late 2016 at www.SpeedoUSA.com.

Maybe I’m the last one on swimswam but I still believe very strong in Missy for next summer.
I’m sure she has worked very hard since she’s back in Colorado with her longtime coach and it will pay off.
She’s a champion. A true champion.

There is a large market for well produced quality sport swimwear that can actually be found in retail outlets . Lets face it , American women 25+ are not sylphs & could do with a line that is tested for functionality rather than a pose on a rock under a waterfall.

Lets hope her name recognition will steer Mums to that line rather than the frou-frou rack for their girls & to pick up something for themselves that doesn’t make them look Burlesque. The best gift a kid can have is , is if their Mum sport-swims .

Harsh but true. At least we know you didn’t get your marketing degree at Trump University….

I can’t be sad that potential real estate shysters failed in their bids . They are not the only ones in the US or elsewhere with a useless partial college course that they are in debt for .

Regardless of Missy’s performance this summer, she has many more years in her, and in the event of an epic fail, think Dana Volmer 2008 to 2012. Why so snarky on McKeever? 1:39.1 is pretty unambiguous. And last, the debate on when she should have gone pro is all based on what each person’s own sense of ” a lot of money” is. The college experience is priceless; a few extra million….not worth it.

I know Speedo have done a few Phelps/Lochte/Coughlin tagged items in the past, but I like the idea of a full athlete designed collection. More brands should do this. As I kid I would have gladly spent all my parents money on a Summer Sanders collection (ps – bring back the hologram suit).

She obviously has a nice 7 figure multi year deal with Speedo and probably a couple other similar contracts. She has great family and friends etc so I cant see why someone wants to nitpick and revisit her choice to go to college. Still nervous about her upcoming trials performance……..

The logo is very nice, but I wouldn’t call it “simple” at all. A lot of graphic design talent went into creating it — I especially like the reversed-out “heart” embedded in the “M” which is sort of like the hidden arrow in the FedEx logo.

This logo could easily pass for a late 1970s perfume logo!

“A lot of graphic design talent”? That’s an oxymoron….

Lol. Yes, I bet you have a big manly job where you have to like, throw stuff. Real heavy stuff. Because you’re strong and use your man-strength to provide for your family. Not like these sissy “designers.” Pfft.

People that don’t do what I do are dumb and weird.
