The 2016 Olympic Games in Rio are the most anticipated international sporting event of the summer, but shortly after the Brazilian-hosted affair comes to a close, the FINA Short Course World Championships will be taking place.
The championships are scheduled for December 6-11th, with over 1,000 swimmers from 170 countries set to compete at the Windsor Family Credit Union Centre (WFCU) in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. This year represents the 13th edition of the short course event and Windsor signifies the first time ever the country of Canada will play host to the competition.
Tickets for the event go on sale for the general public July 1st, however, as of May 4th, Windsor residents are offered a unique opportunity to purchase tickets early. Windsor residents, Swimming Canada and Swim Ontario members are able to use a promotional code (WINDSORWORLDS) to receive a discount on tickets, rendering them as low as $20 for finals, $9 for heats and $64 for a weekender pass.
According to event organizers, the 2016 FINA Short Course World Championships will be “global in scale and will welcome the world”, therefore, their “desire is to offer community residents the first opportunity to witness this once-in-a-lifetime event up close and in person.”
Time to move to Windsor!
