Virginia Tech Lands Verbal Commitment from NCAP’s Allison Goldblatt

The Viriginia Tech H2okies have received a verbal commitment from one of Virginia’s top in-state swimmers in the class of 2017, Woodson High School junior Allison Goldblatt.

“From the minute I stepped on campus Virginia Tech felt like home. That paired with the amazing coaches and support staff, the family-atmosphere of the team, and the excellent academics made it clear that Virginia Tech was the place for me.”

Goldblatt, who lives in McLean, Virginia, swims for Nation’s Capital Swim Club and specializes in butterfly and freestyle. In long course meters, she is less than a half-second off the 2016 Olympic Trials standard in the 200m fly (2:15.44) and 1.4 seconds away in the 100m fly (1:02.54).

At the recent Virginia 6A North Region Championships she placed fifth in the 200 IM and eighth in the 100 fly. Her top SCY times include:

• 200 free – 1:50.37
• 500 free – 4:53.88
• 1650 free – 16:44.27
• 100 fly – 56.02
• 200 fly – 1:59.60
• 200 IM – 2:05.36
• 400 IM – 4:25.44

Goldblatt’s 200 fly time is already worthy of a B final appearance at the ACC Championships, and she isn’t far off in the 100 fly and 500 free. Virginia Tech will look to Goldblatt to join with Klaudia Nazieblo to fill the holes that current juniors Maggie Gruber and Laura Schwartz, both of whom scored in the 200 fly at ACCs, will leave when they graduate.
