The Netherlands and Spain maintained the lead of Group A and B respectively, following the fifth round of theWomen’s Water Polo World League 2016, held in various European cities on Tuesday April 12. Despite being Group A‘s leader, the Netherlands lost to Hungary 7-9 at home in Dordrecht (1-1, 3-2, 1-3, 2-3). The Italian squad, second in the provisional ranking with 10 points, visited the French in Abbeville and crushed them 10-5 (2-2, 2-1, 3-1, 3-1).
In Group B, the Greek proved too strong for Russia and won 15-9 (2-2, 4-2, 5-1, 4-4) in Athens, while Spain easily defeated Germany 21-2 with a decisive first quarter (7-0, 5-1, 3-0, 6-1).
