In the above video, a Vanderbilt University interviewer talks to Bre Sapienza, a ‘C’ finalist in the 100 fly at yesterday’s SEC Championships in Columbia, Missouri, about her process of getting ready to swim in the finals at a high-level NCAA conference championship.
Yesterday morning, Sapienza, the Vanderbilt record-holder in the event, qualified for an incredibly-competitive ‘C’ final of the 100 fly at SEC Championships by clocking 53.81. Only .15 seconds separated 17th through 24th place going into the night’s swim. In the end, Sapienza finished 24th overall with 54.22, scoring a point for her Vanderbilt team.
Earlier this weekend, the Vanderbilt relay of Kayla Moran, Johanna Goldblatt, Sapienza, and Hannah Martin set a new school record in the 200 free relay with 1:32.38.

Their 200 medley relay set a new school record as well, when Goldblatt, Kara Lucenti, Sapienza, and Moran teamed up for 1:40.61 on Wednesday. They smashed the old record, a 1:42.07 from 2014.

This morning, Sapienza finished 46th in the prelims of the 200 fly with 2:06.20. With three more sessions to go, the Vanderbilt women currently sit twelfth in the team rankings.
