U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. — The Air Force women’s swimming and diving team travels to College Station, Texas, for the annual Mountain West Championships, Feb. 17-21. In the pre-championships coaches’ poll, the Falcons were picked to finish sixth with 35 points.
Several Falcons rank among the league leaders, led by junior Genevieve Miller, the Academy and conference record holder in the 500 and 1650 free. The Winston-Salem, N.C., native is the two-time league champion in both events. Miller ranks first in the Mountain West in the 500 free (4:43.77), the 1000 free (9:53.33) and the 1650 free (16:16.13). She is also fourth in the league in the 200 free (1:49.02) and ninth in the 400 IM (4:25.71).
Senior Sara Menke is a returning all-conference performer as she placed second in both the 500 and 1650 free last season. This season, she ranks fourth in the Mountain West in the 1650 free (16:45.64), fifth in the 1000 free (10:10.29) and eighth in the 500 free (4:52.83).
Sophomore Maria Schroeder, a returning all-conference performer in the 100 fly, currently ranks fourth in the league in that event (54.43). Schroeder holds the school record in both the 100 and 200 fly. Senior team captain Jenna Tasic ranks ninth in the 200 fly (2:02.47).
