RALEIGH- After a strong showing in its tri-meet at Chapel Hill last weekend, the NC State swimming and diving team heads back to Koury Natatorium for the Carolina College Invitational this weekend.
Hosted by UNC-Chapel Hill, the meet will run Friday through Sunday with prelims starting at 10 a.m. each day, and finals commencing at 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Sunday’s finals will begin at 5 p.m.
Live results will be available beginning with Friday’s evening session, as no team scores will be kept.
Participating teams along with the Wolfpack will include host UNC-CH, Duke, William & Mary, James Madison, Old Dominion and UNC-Wilmington. In the evenings there will be a consolation ‘B’ final in each event followed by a championship ‘A’ final.
Holloway’s Statement
“The team is excited for the championship season to begin, and the first meet for us is the Carolina College Invite,” said head coach Braden Holloway. “Thanks to UNC for hosting a championship venue for many teams. We have many student-athletes that will use this meet to start our championship segment, and we’re excited for them to showcase their hard work and team spirit.
“All four classes will be represented at this meet, and with the meet being just down the street we’ll be able to provide a great environment for them.”
Last Time Out
NC State competed in a tri-meet with ACC rivals UNC-Chapel Hill and Virginia last Friday, as UNC played host.
The No. 8 Wolfpack men swept its competition with a 186-112 win over the No. 19 Tar Heels and a 222-78 victory over the 21st-ranked Cavaliers.
NC State’s women, listed at 15th in the national polls, defeated No. 16 UNC-CH, 162-138, but narrowly fell to No. 8 Virginia, 154.5-145.5.
