Katy Kouvaris, from Mercy High School in Farmington Hills, Michigan, has committed to swim at the University of Findlay. A three sport athlete, Kouvaris faced a difficult decision when considering colleges, but according to her family, when she finally opted to focus on swimming she felt that she found a great fit at Findlay.
Kouvaris told SwimSwam, “The Findlay swim team and coaches did a great job making me feel welcome and wanted! I think the school will be a great fit for me both in the pool and in the classroom. It’s awesome that Findlay offers both graphic design and equestrian studies.”
Besides being a member of the Mercy High School Varsity Swim Team, Kouvaris is also the goalie for their two-time State Champion ice hockey team and in the spring/summer, she is a regionally-ranked equestrian competing in the hunter/jumper circuit. Kouvaris is a member of Birmingham ‘Y’ Blue Dolphins; her top times in SCY include:
200 free 1:56.11
50 free 24.73
100 fly 58.95
Katy Kouvaris will join her brother as an NCAA swimmer: Gust Kouvaris is in UVA’s class of 2019.
