Vermont’s Weaver, UNH’s Miller Earn America East Awards

BOSTON – With just over two weeks remaining before the 2016 America East Swimming & Diving Championship, three teams competed last weekend. New Hampshire beat conference-foe Binghamton, while Vermont upended Rhode Island.

Swimmer of the Week
Christa Weaver, Vermont –  Sr., South Burlington, Vt.

  • Won a pair of freestyle events to lead UVM to a win over URI.
  • Took the 50 free by less than a quarter of a second over Rhode Island’s Porshe Ferrell with a time of 24.31.
  • Won the 100 free with a time of 53.48.

Diver of the Week
Hailee Miller, New Hampshire – So., Milton, Mass.

  • Swept the diving events in UNH’s win over Binghamton on Saturday.
  • In the 1-meter dive, Miller dove to a score of 228.07, nearly 20 points higher than second place (209.70).
  • In the 3-meter dive, she trounced the competition with a score of 229.26 while the second place diver scored 176.17.
