Overlapping with the highly anticipated Victorian Open Championships set to take place next weekend is another prime-time Australian meet, the 2016 South Australian Long Course State Championships.

Over 750 swimmers representing approximately 50 clubs are slated to descend upon the SA Aquatic and Leisure Center in Oaklands Park, hoping to qualify for the Australian Swimming Championships/Olympic Trials taking place in April.

The SA Championships spans 5 days, starting Wednesday, January 20th and running through Saturday, January 24th, following the typical format of prelims in the morning, with finals in the evening sessions. Of note, there is a maximum of two non-South Australian swimmers  able to compete in each final.

A key swimmer headed to Oaklands Park is young stud Kyle Chalmers, the Marion Swim Club sprinter who swam in both the Senior and Junior World Championships this past summer.  Competing at the latter, Chalmers raked in two individual golds, dominating the 50 and 100 freestyles with times of 22.19 and 48.47.

The recently-signed Adidas swimmer is scheduled to swim a monster schedule at the SA Championships, ranging from his signature sprint free to sprint backstroke to the mid-distance IM.  Below is a complete line-up of what Chalmers currently is listed as having entered:
