WATCH: Sarah Sjostrom Gets U.S. Open Record #2 in 100 Fly (RACE VIDEO)

Sarah Sjostrom’s historic double on Friday at the 2016 Arena Pro Swim Series – Austin started and ended with U.S. Open Records.

After breaking the 100 free with a 53.12 earlier in the session (video of that race is here), Sjostrom swam a 56.38 in the 100 meter fly final.

Her swim broke the old record of American Dana Vollmer, who swam a 56.42 during the semi-finals of the 2012 Olympic Trials. Vollmer finished 2nd in Friday night’s race with a 57.61.

The two swims came just 35 minutes apart.

On Saturday morning after the preliminary rounds, Sjostrom sits as the 2nd qualifier in the 200 free behind American Katie Ledecky and 3rd in the 50 free. She’s also entered to swim the 100 back on Sunday.
