The University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee (UWM) Panthers won’t take on IUPUI next weekend, as the home meet has been removed from the team’s schedule.
SwimSwam has reached out to Milwaukee’s athletic department for the reason behind the meet’s cancellation, but the school has not yet responded with comment. We will update if any further information is given out.
Update: A spokesperson for the athletic department told SwimSwam the meet was cancelled for disciplinary reasons. No other information was given.
Milwaukee was slated to swim back-to-back meets next weekend, first hosting IUPUI (short for Indiana University – Purdue University Indianapolis) on Friday, January 15th, then traveling to Chicago for a road meet against the University of Chicago on Saturday the 16th.
The double-meet schedule would have been a busy travel weekend for Milwaukee, which is currently on a training trip in Florida. An archived version of the original schedule shows the IUPUI meet’s start time listed as “TBD,” but the Chicago meet begins at 1pm on Saturday. The two cities are only a few hours apart via bus.
IUPUI would have been Milwaukee’s second-to-last home meet of the year. They still take on Green Bay in their home pool on January 30th.
IUPUI is not in the horizon league. They are in the summit league.
