DALLAS (SMU) – SMU divers head to Athens, Georgia, for the Georgia Diving Invitational Sunday through Tuesdayat the Gabrielsen Natatorium. Mustang men and women will compete in springboard and platform with 1- and 3-meter taking place on Sunday and Monday, and platform wrapping up competition on Tuesday.
Bryce Klein has led the Mustang men this season and has NCAA Zone qualification scores in both the 1- and 3-meter, while Parker Meinecke posted a mark in the 1-meter. To start the season, the men swept both events against TCU, and Klein has gone on to win five of six events in NCAA competition. Daniel Pitts and Parker Holloway also join the Mustangs in Athens.
On the women’s side, Lauren Lamb and Madeline Wainman swept events in the dual meet at Rice on Oct. 31 with one victory each.
Klein has three times been named the American Athletic Conference Diver of the Week, while Pitts earned the first nod of the season. For the women, Wainman earned the honor on Oct. 6 following a Mustang win at the UNT Relays.
The Mustangs will compete against divers from Georgia, Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, LSU, Missouri, Minnesota, Drexel, Iowa State, Illinois, Clemson and NC State. Springboard prelims are set to take place on Sunday andMonday starting at 10 a.m. CT, with finals to follow immediately after, while platform action begins at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, with finals to follow.
