I’m curious about the pool setup. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I thought it was a FINA rule that lane numbers ascended from 1 through 8 moving from right to left from the starting end of the pool. This was reversed for the 2012 Olympics because of “television reasons.”

The Duel in the Pool has the same “flipped” lane numbers. Is the standard no longer a rule, or does each venue get to pick what they want?

Some observations: 1) Simone Manuel has the best post race reactions when she squints up at the scoreboard. 2) I love all of the colorful suits! They are a lot of fun! 3) It’s great to see Team USA bounce back a bit from Worlds. I know the competition isn’t as stiff but Team USA seems to be gelling well.
