Cseh, Koch, Stjepanovic Once Again At Euro Meet

The world champion Laszlo Cseh (Hungary) and the European champion Velimir Stjepanovic (Serbia) have confirmed their attendance at the 2016 Luxembourg Euro Meet to be held from 29th to 31st January. Also World Champion Marco Koch from Germany has already announced his attendance at the swim meet in Luxembourg. Koch won the 100 and 200 m breaststroke at the European Short Course Championships in Netanya last week.

30 year old Laszlo Cseh broke two European records at the Championships in the short course pool on the 200 m butterfly and the 200 m individual medley, he also won the 100 m butterfly  on his 30th birthday, 3rd of december. The meet’s press release also mentioned Serbian Velimir Stjepanovic, who lives and trains in Dubai. He is the reigning European champion in the 200m and 400m freestyle – long course, won in Berlin in August 2014. The summer 2015 was not the best one for him (semi-finalist in the 200m freestyle at the World Championships in Kazan), but his recent performances achieved at the FINA Swimming World Cup give the sign of a strong comeback towards his best level. “The Euro Meet is a perfect opportunity to launch the 2016 season in view of the Olympic Games” said Stjepanovic in today’s publication on the event website.

In 2015, 123 swim clubs from 25 nations joined the Euro meet. Among others, Mireia Belmonte (Spain), Melanie Costa (Spain), Michael Jamieson (Great Britain), Konrad Zerniak (Poland) and Victor Bromer (Denmark) took part in the 2015 edition of the competition.
