Findlay Adds Michiganders Niermann and Ladetto for 2016-17

University of Findlay has nabbed a pair of Michiganders for its class of 2020; Gerard Niermann of Canton and Nathan Ladetto of Waterford have both signed NLIs to join the Oilers next fall.

“I chose Findlay as my future college because it is a smaller sized school that is growing and the swimmers and coaches instantly made me feel like I was part of the team.”

Ladetto is a senior at Waterford Kettering High School, where he is a member of the National Honor Society. He is also part of the national organization LINK crew, which mentors freshman their first year of high school. He was a finalist in the 200 IM at the 2015 MHSAA D1 Boys Swim and Dive Championships, going a best time of 1:59.26 in prelims.

Ladetto also swims for Kingfish Aquatic Club of Waterford, and his best times are:

  • 100 breast – 1:02.66
  • 200 breast – 2:12.90
  • 200 IM – 1:59.26
  • 400 IM – 4:09.43

Ladetto would have scored in the B final of the 200 breast and 400 IM at 2015 GLIAC Championships.

Gerard Niermann

Michigan LSC logoNiermann is a senior at Canton High School, where he is a scholar-athlete with academic honors. In addition to swimming in the Michigan LSC as a member of Bulldog Aquatic Club, Niermann created the new logo for Michigan Swimming. Niermann represented Canton High at the 2015 MHSAA D1 Boys Swim and Dive Championships in the 200 IM, 100 free, and 400 free relay.

Niermann swims for Bulldog Aquatic Club. His top times are:

  • 50 free – 23.55 (22.07 relay split)
  • 100 free – 48.79
  • 200 free – 1:47.44
  • 100 fly – 56.80
  • 100 breast – 1:03.01
  • 200 IM – 2:00.91

Niermann is within striking distance of scoring in several events for the Oilers in the two-final format of GLIAC Championships.
