Elizabeth Sargent, the defending Connecticut Class M State Champion in the 200 IM, has given her verbal commitment to attend Seton Hall next fall. Sargent resides in Trumbull, Connecticut and currently competes for The Academy of Our Lady of Mercy Lauralton Hall, coached by Fran Pfeiffer, and the Westport-Weston Family YMCA Water Rat swim team, where she is coached by Ellen Johnston. While at Lauralton Hall, the team won the Class S State title in her freshman year and a Class M State title in her junior year, with Sargent placing in both individual and relay events.

Sargent is a 3 time All-Conference swimmer, 2 Time All Area swimmer, 2 time competitor at the Connecticut State Open meet and a 4 time YMCA Nationals finalist, most recently placing 6th in the 400 IM at the 2015 YMCA National Long Course Championships. Her top times are as follows:

  SCY LCM
400 IM 4:28.59 5:04.32
200 IM 2:08.60 2:27.30
200 fly 2:06.36 2:22.61
200 back 2:05.83 2:26.09

Sargent has the potential to score big points for the Pirates. Her 400 IM and 200 fly times would have made their respective A finals at 2015 Big East Championships, while her 200 back and 200 IM would have qualified for B finals.

Sargent is a member of the National Honor Society, a 2 time Connecticut Swimming Scholar Athlete and a 2014-15 USA Swimming Scholastic All-American. She said, “I chose Seton Hall because I loved the atmosphere on campus and the positive attitude on the team. All the coaches were so supportive, both in and out of the water. I can’t wait to start my four years as a Pirate!”

Joining Sargent in the Seton Hall class of 2020 are fellow-commits Jillian Calocino and Jordan Decker.
