University of the Pacific Lands Local Freestyle Talent Taylor Hosmer

Tiger Aquatics’ Taylor Hosmer has elected to stay local and swim for the University of the Pacific next fall. She’ll be training under new Pacific assistant coach Simon Burnett; the British Olympian and the fastest 200 yard freestyler ever joined the Tigers’ staff this summer.

Hosmer’s Top Times

  • 100 free – 52.41
  • 200 free – 1:49.86
  • 500 free 4:56.76
  • 400 IM – 4:26.52

Swimming for Lincoln High School at the first-ever CIF State Championships, Hosmer finished 12th in the 200 free along with 19th in the 500 free. She also anchored the 16th place 200 medley relay (24.07) and 17th place 400 free relay (52.32).

Hosmer is a huge pick up for the Tigers– she would’ve been their #2 200 and 500 freestyler behind program record-setter Margaux Verger Gourson last year, and Gourson, of France, is red-shirting this season. Gourson should be back for an assumed 2 more years of eligibility, thus giving her two years to train with Hosmer on the team.

Hosmer also would’ve been their #2 400 IM’er last season to Cristina Mardones, who is currently a senior and will have graduated before Hosmer arrives on campus (right down the street.)  Last year at the MPSF Champs, Hosmer would’ve been 6th in the 200 free, 8th in the 400 IM, nearly A-finaled in the 500 free, and C-finaled in the 100 free. This is a big-time commitment for UOP.
