Junior Nats Qualifier Alicia Beam Commits To Wisconsin-Milwaukee

Backstroker Alicia Beam of the Southwest Aquatic Team has verbally committed to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Last season as a team captain, she helped lead the Waukesha South Mukwonago High School swim team to a team third place finish at the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Division I Championships. She placed fourth in the 100 backstroke with a 56.98, although in prelims, she clocked a junior nationals qualifying time of 56.08. Beam also teamed up with Addison Skogman, Kierston Farley-Sepe, and Brittany Jacobi to take fourth in the 200 medley relay in 1:47.00; her 50 back split was 27.05. Here are her fastest times:

  • 50 BK: 26.53
  • 100 BK: 56.08
  • 200 BK: 2:04.76
  • 50 FL: 26.71
  • 100 FL: 58.33
  • 100 FR: 54.05

Last season, led by coach , the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Panthers were the runners-up at the 2015 Horizon League Championships. Beam should score some points for the Panthers next season; she would have taken fifth in the 100 back, tenth in the 200 back, and fifteenth in the 100 fly last season.

“”I chose UW Milwaukee because I loved the school, team, facilities and especially the coaching staff,” Beam said. “I feel the Horizon League and UW-M will be a good fit for me. I am beyond excited to be a Panther next year!”
