You’ve clamored for it in the comments, and we heard you. SwimSwam’s official Pick ‘Em Contest is back for the 2015 FINA World Championships.
This summer, TYR is providing a great package of prizes, including the brand-new Avictor technical suit and Blackhawk goggles. Daily winners will take home prize packs on each of the meet’s 8 days, and the overall series winner will get a Grand Prize at the meet’s conclusion.
This is it, swimming fans. Your status as world swimming expert is on the line. So get out those crystal balls* and start proving your mettle!
*Those with actual working crystal balls are not allowed to enter.
THE GAME
You pick the top four in each event, we give you points. It’s as simple as that. We’ve cut the list off at the top 8 seeds, but have added an “other” option for anyone feeling more daring.
Entries will close at 11:59 PM U.S. Eastern Time (aka, New York City) on Saturday, August 1st.
PRIZES
Prize packages will come courtesy of TYR:
Daily winners will win a prize bundle featuring the new TYR Blackhawk Goggles and a swim cap.
The overall Grand Prize winner will receive the new TYR Avictor technical racing suit, as well as the new TYR Blackhawk Goggles and a swim cap.
SCORING
Our scoring system is the same as it was for last summer’s U.S. National Championships:
- 1st – 4 points
- 2nd – 4 points
- 3rd – 3 points
- 4th – 2 points
- Correctly Picking “Other” in correct spot – 3 bonus points, plus earned points
- Successfully predicting a swimmer in the top 4, but in the wrong spot – 1 bonus point
Note: there are some very tempting “Other” selections this year, so be sure to peruse the entry lists before making your choices. For example, Nathan Adrian is not a top-8 seed in the 50 free. You’ll be rewarded handsomely if you hit right!
TIE-BREAKER
All ties will be broken by the following order:
- Who had the most 1st place picks correct
- Who had the most 2nd place picks correct
- Who had the most 3rd place picks correct
- Who had the most 4th place picks correct
- Who has the highest overall score (if tie is for a daily prize)
- Drawing of lots

The only bad thing about this is that I often forget who I picked!
Any way to make changes to picks after submission? Not feeling too good about Ye Shiwen anymore in light of her recent ankle news.

what happens if someone wins, let’s say, 2 or 3 days in a row, will the get the cap and goggles again and again or will they get something different for winning for than once
Has anyone else been able to fill out the form on an ipad? I cant scroll down so i can only pick the first event. The page doesn’t work at all on my phone.
I tried to do it on an IPad, but it only gave me the first event and half of the 400 free, so I did it on a laptop. I also took pictures of each event, so I can see if I picked correctly. 🙂
