Carsten Vissering put on a show on the second morning of the 2015 NCSA Jr National Championships in Indianapolis. Vissering is the 15-16 NAG record holder in the 100m breaststroke and is now getting dangerously close to Kevin Cordes’ 17-18 NAG record of 1:00.47. That time is the second fastest 17-18 100 breaststroke in history. Vissering previously had the second fastest time ever with a 1:01.00.
The 18 year-old from Nation’s Capital went 1:00.86 to earn the top seed heading into finals of the men’s 100 breaststroke. was the second fastest performer of the morning with a 1:02.52.
Wade O’Brien is the top seed in the men’s 100 backstroke after winning the 200 of the same stroke yesterday. He finished with a time of 56.89 his morning.

- Women’s 100 Breast – Rachel Munson 1:10.08

- Men’s 100 Back – Wade O’Brien 56.89

Well, I have a lot of respect for Bobo’s estimations and what I know is Seliskar is a very talented guy who has been 1:54 before (I think?). That he’s “only been 1:56” earlier this year isn’t really much of an input. Craig Beardsley was always Mr. 2:03 and then a 1:58 with rest.
I’d love to see Seliskar drop a bomb this week in the 2 fly as a fan of swimming.
’tis foolish for seliskar to not redshirt next year, not everyone can excel in their first year of ncaa swimming, if i were him and he were i, i would put rio ahead of ncaa season, but thats just me could be playing a dangerous game…however hope for the best and wish him too tear the NCAA a new one
Yes I think that 1:52 might be a little extreme for Seliskar but I feel like he’s due for a monster LCM swim. He threw down a 3:37 4IM SCY in early March and afterwords said he wasn’t even fully tapered or shaven. I could be wrong but I think if he’s going to become the U.S. Leader and a world powerhouse in 200fly it’s going to start in San Antonio
Don’t overthink it because I’m here to tell you he’ll go a 1:54.2. No chance of a 1:53 this year and will probably never go a 1:52.

1) I think even a 1:53 is a fairly absurd prediction to make for Seliskar as he has barely been under 1:56 thus far
2) since when do they both train under Flanagan? I haven’t read/heard anything on that. Thought Vissering trains with Gemmell
It makes sense – him training with Seliskar. I think they are training together since last summer?
Yes – Carsten moved over to the Tyson’s NCAP site last August.
Vissering used to swim with Gemmell but switched over to Flanagan’s group some months ago.
It looks like Carsten and Seliskar were both untapered at WUGs. Since they both have the same coach now it might be reasonable to think that Seliskar could knock 2 seconds off each 100 of his 200fly and maybe go 1:52. That might be reaching a little but I feel like a 1:53 low should absolutely happen

I would imagine it’s a bit of sarcasm. Go back and check the number of swimmers who have gone a 1:52 textile 200m fly and you’ll realize that it’s being thrown around a little too loosely here. KT can’t seriously think that 2 seconds off each 100 is possible. He must be joking and Bobo is making light of it.

More seriously, he was clearly not tapered at WUGs and we can expect a 1.54 high/1.55 low at Nationals.
One year with Salo and I get that Eddie Moses 2.0 kind of feeling. And I think I likes it!
Looks like Carsten is on his way to some great things next summer.
