U.S. Paralympian Becca Meyers was named the ESPY Award Winner for Female Athlete with a Disability on Wednesday evening, marking the 7th time in 11 years since ESPN split the award out to gender-specific honors that a swimmer has taken the title.
Meyers set two World Records and earned six gold medals at the 2014 Pan Pacific Swimming Championships. She wins the award as a summer athlete even for accomplishments in a year where the winter Paralympics dominated the landscape

Meyers is a two-time Paralympic medalist, earning silver and bronze in 2012.
Meyers, like Missy Franklin who won the Best Female College Athlete of the Year, was not in attendance to accept her award. Meyers is currently in Glasgow, Scotland competing at the IPC World Championships, where thus far she’s won gold in the 200 IM and won her morning heat in the 400 free on Thursday.
