Idaho Swim and Dive Signs 13 for Next Season

The Idaho Swim and Dive team has signed 13 high school athletes to the team for next year. This incoming group of freshmen has a wide range of abilities in the pool and on the diving board. The athletes are coming in from all over the country and internationally to compete for the Vandals next season.

“This is by far one of the best and deepest classes that has ever walked onto this campus in Moscow,” Coach Mark Sowa said. “Every one of these athletes has a chance to make an immediate impact on our team and on the conference.”

Brianna Fleeman is a butterfly and distance swimmer from Bonney Lake, Wash. She attended Bonney Lake High School and graduated with honors. She was also a member of the King Aquatic Club in Federal Way, Wash. where she was a senior sectional qualifier and was a member of the PNS All-Star Team. Fleeman plans on majoring in Exercise Science at Idaho.

Emily Kliewer is a butterfly and individual medley swim from Orlando, Fla. Kliewer attended Dr. Phillips High School where she was a captain for her school swim team, NISCA All-American and a member of the All-Central Florida team. She was an AP Scholar and a National Merit Scholar semifinalist. Kliewer plans on majoring in Mechanical Engineering at Idaho.

Sarah Hall is a middle distance and freestyle swimmer from Victoria, B.C. Hall attended Claremont High School where she was a member of the Island Swimming club team and named top swimmer in 15-17 age group. She was named to the All-B.C. swim team and was a Pacific Coast All-Star. Hall plans on majoring in Environmental Science at Idaho.

Erica King is a backstroke and middle distance swimmer from Palatine, Ill. King attended William Frema High School where she was team captain and an All-American. Her high school team placed sixth in state during senior year. She plans on majoring in Food Science at Idaho.

Ana Walters is a backstroke and individual medley swimmer from Avon, Ind. Walters attended Avon High School where she was a four year sectional winner and MVP of school team freshman, sophomore and junior seasons, and a four year state finalist. She plans on majoring in Environmental Science at Idaho.

Clothilde Peseux is an breaststroke and individual medley swimmer from Besancon, France. She competed for the ANB club team where she was a bronze medalist in the 100 breast and silver medalist in the 200 IM at the 2014 French Championships. Peseux plans on majoring in Chemistry at Idaho.

Lauren Votava is a breaststroke and freestyle swimmer from Rocklin, Calif. Votava attended Whitney High School where she was an All-Conference athlete and two year team captain. She was named MVP three times and earned Athlete of the Year honors. Votava plans on majoring in Elementary Education at Idaho.

Vivian Crow is a butterfly and individual medley swimmer from Davis, Calif. Crow attended Davis Senior High School where she was a member of the California Scholarship Federation and the National Honors Society. Her club team was CIF Section Champions in 2013. Crow plans on majoring in Exercise Science and Health at Idaho.

Emily Bruneel is a middle distance swimmer from Eagle, Idaho. Bruneel attended Eagle High School where she was state champion in the 100 free, 500 free and 400 free relay. She graduated with honors and is a member of the National Honors Society.

Aileen Pannoucke is a freestyle swimmer from Deinze, Belgium. Pannoucke attended KTB Bruges School where she was a champion in multiple freestyle and butterfly events. She plans on majoring in Exercise Science and Health at Idaho.

Indya Williams is a diver from Aurora, Colo. Williams attended Eaglecrest High School was the diving team captain and two time MVP. She placed third in Colorado State Championships and qualified for nationals. She also holds school and district records for diving. Williams plans on majoring in Business at Idaho.

Janelle Lucas is a diver from Mission Viejo, Calif. Lucas attended Trabuco Hills High School where she was a senior national qualifier and competed in the Zone Championships. She plans on majoring in Business at Idaho.

Maryann Kok Cher Ling is a swimmer from Selangor, Shah Alam, Malaysia. She Attended SMK Subang Utama for high school in Malaysia where she was team captain. She attended Sunway University College after high school and graduated in spring of 2015.

“We have bolstered our young diving team with two very talented divers, replenished our flyers, breaststrokers, and IMers, and got significantly deeper in all freestyle events,” Sowa said. “We have recruited local talent, regional talent, the midwest, both coasts, and internationally. I am extremely excited to get these young ladies on campus and get to work. We have a lot to do!”
