From a time trial at the Athens Speedo Sectional meet to entering the swimming history books, Club Wolverine Elite backstroker Junya Koga (Japan) rocked a new U.S. Open Record in the 50m backstroke.  24.50 was what he clocked sans backstroke wedge tonight to mark the fastest time ever on American soil.

Koga’s record surpassed that of American David Plummer, whose time of 24.52 has stood from the 2013 World Championship Trials, and now ranks as the top time in the world for 2015.
