Fresno Pacific Swimming & Diving Earns CSCAA Academic Honor

NORFOLK, Va. – The Fresno Pacific women’s swimming and diving team has been named a 2015 College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-American Team, announced Tuesday. In addition, six student-athletes, two from the women’s team and four from the men’s squad, were named CSCAA Scholar All-American Honorable Mention by the organization.

Head coach Josh Christensen‘s Sunbirds ranked 25th in Division II with a team GPA of 3.39. It marks the second consecutive season the women’s team has earned the honor.

To be selected as a CSCAA Scholar All-America Team, a program must have earned a GPA of 3.0 or higher in the specified semester. A record-total of 406 collegiate swimming and diving teams earned the honor in Spring 2015.

Bre Abell and Daria Belova posted the highest GPA from the women’s team to be named Scholar All-Americans. On the men’s side, Alex Hussain, Connor Greene, Maxim Shcherbakov and Wesley Coles were tabbed Scholar All-Americans. It marks the third such honor for Coles, while Hussain is an honoree for the second consecutive season.

To receive the recognition, individuals must have a GPA of 3.50 and achieved an NCAA “B” time standard or competed at the NCAA diving qualifying meet.

Founded in 1922, the CSCAA is the oldest professional organization of college coaches in America. It is dedicated to serving and providing leadership for the advancement of the sport of swimming and diving at the collegiate level.
